Treating Pelvic Pain Disorders from a Biopsychosocial-Sexual Perspective

This is an in depth training on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of high toned pelvic floor disorders in natal sex female bodies and how to treat them from a biopsychosocial-sexual perspective and in a collaborative health model. This seminar begins with an introduction by Dr. Tina Schermer Sellers and is taught by Kim Castelo, MS, CST-S who, along with Dr. Sellers and Dr. Mia Swartz-Duncan, MD developed a triadic collaborative model, including pelvic floor PT. This holistic model was first presented in 2017 at the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association meeting in Rochester, New York.

Presenter: Kimberly Castelo, MS, LMFT-S CST-S, CEFT-T

Kimberly Castelo is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor, AAMFT Supervisor, Washington State Supervisor, and an EFT Supervisor in training. Not only does she supervise through her practice, she also supervises clinicians through Modern Sex Therapy Institute and offers a course on using EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy) with sexual issues. She works with clients on such topics as religious shame, recovering from affairs, chronic illness, sexual dysfunction, Kink/BDSM, Consensual non-monogamy and learning how to create deep connection within relationships. Kimberly is a national speaker. Speaking on topics of faith, sexuality, grief, coping with Multiple Sclerosis, High Tone Pelvic floor, Using EFT for sexual concerns and menopause. In 2000-2003, Ms. Castelo worked in North Carolina as a Chaplain for the U.S.v Department of Veteran Affairs working with groups and individuals on spirituality, addictions, grief and loss, and lead weekly meetings collaborating with the medical staff to aid geriatric patients and veterans. Kimberly currently works with adults and couples from an attachment lens. “I believe each person is unique. I have a client-centered approach and strive to meet my clients’ needs in our time together”
