The world has changed significantly over the past 3 years. These changes have impacted personal lives, education, work, and clinical practice. Many of us have also experienced challenges to our ability to stay connected to our professional communities and to stay up to date with changes to the laws that regulate our professions.
This 3-hour law & ethics seminar is designed to present and discuss changes to the legal standards since 2019 that impact the practice of behavioral health professions. We will discuss new Washington State and Federal telehealth laws, as well as legal standards that have been revoked or amended. We will also discuss some changes that are just over the horizon. This workshop is intended to meet Washington State law and ethics requirements. This course is intended to meet ethics CE requirements.
Objectives:
• Identify newly enacted Washington State laws
• Apply changes in Washington State laws to clinical practice
• Identify changes in federal regulations
• Apply changes in federal regulations to clinical practice
• Identify outdated/repealed legal standards
Eric Strom is an attorney and Licensed Mental Health Counselor. As an attorney, Eric provides legal counsel, consultation and guidance to mental health professionals. The focus of Eric’s clinical practice is providing mental health counseling services to combat veterans. Eric is currently serving as the ethics advisor for the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association.
